What is prayer?
Prayer is a conversation with God done
with a sincere heart. When we first start
to develop a relationship with Jesus
through prayer it seems awkward and
often times strange. Many wonder “Does
Jesus really hear our prayers?” The
answer is yes. Jesus hears your prayers.
In the beginning praying to Jesus is like a
first date.
Analogy
There you are sitting across the table from a
perfect stranger. Not really knowing what to
say, just making small talk. The wonderful
thing is Jesus knows you. It is you who need
to know Jesus. At this point we need the
Helper, which is the Holy Spirit. The Holy
Spirit is a gift from heaven to all believers. It
is the Holy Spirit who enables us to pray with
a purpose (Acts 1:8)
What is praying with a purpose?
Praying with a purpose is what I call ABC, “A Biblical
Conversation.” ABC is praying the Scriptures, the Word of
God, which is the language of God in the Holy Ghost. Praying
with a purpose is praying the will of you Father for your life.
Ephesians 1:11 & 3:10-17. In doing this your prayer life will
joyfully come alive and you will bear much fruit. Praying with a
purpose is praying in the spirit. The Holy Spirit knows the will
of the Father for you. When we pray in the Spirit the will of the
Father is revealed unto us (Romans 8:26-28). Believers are to
come boldly to the Throne of grace expecting to hear God
speak to their hearts and be prepared to respond to him.
